Original tailpieces are hard to come by and I wanted this design to be easy to replicate. I bought an Allparts short trapeze tailpiece and modified it to get it really short. There isn't much distance between the bridge and the tail of the body. After I took these pics I shortened it further.
The pickguard I made on my CNC mill.
The pickup is a Chinese goldfoil copy and the knobs are repro cupcake knobs.
The jack plate I made from the rectangular piece of pickguard that the mill cut out for the pickup hole. Just kind of winged this. Would be nice to have this in the pickguard CNC program so it could cut that out for me at the same time.
I really winged it on this. Doesn't resemble the original bridge very much but it was quick.
This was a little nerve wracking. Worked out ok, I was worried the bit would bend enough to poke thru the back side of the guitar.
As you can see it turned out ok but the underlying grain and blemishes really came thru the paintjob pretty badly. The next iteration of this will be made from something with tighter grain and properly kiln dried.
