A handy way to take your music tabs with you for your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Guitar Tab lets you store tablature for guitar, bass, or any other instrument in your iPhone OS-based device. A simple web interface lets you download any tab to your device from any computer over a wifi network.

Instructions

We've had some support requests from some confused users. Here's exactly how to use this app:

Direct Copy/Paste Method

  1. Find the tab you want with the Safari web browser. We recommend Ultimate Guitar.
  2. Hold down your finger on the text of the tab until the iPhone clipboard text is displayed.
  3. Select Copy.
  4. Open up Guitar Tab. Select the Paste Tab button.
  5. Hold down your finger in the tab field in the Paste Tab window.
  6. Select Paste.
  7. Fill out the artist/title fields and hit Done.

Note: You can copy from any text anywhere in your device, not just Safari. You can also copy a tab from Guitar Tab and paste it elsewhere (such as into an email).

PC WI-FI Web Page Methd

  1. Make sure Wifi is enabled on your device.
  2. Start the Guitar Tab application on your device.
  3. Click on the Downloader button.
  4. Enable the downloader by switching the switch to "ON". Leave the app running in this way and do not lock the screen or allow the screen to be locked.
  5. From a separate computer on your network browse to the address listed in the downloader. Do not attempt to download a tab from the same device; iPhone OS devices only support one application running at a time so this is not possible.
  6. You should see a simple web page with Artist, Song, and Tab fields. Fill in all three and submit the form.
  7. After the download completes you should see a web page stating that it did so successfully.
